Paintings: 1994-1996

Overview

PAINTINGS 1994 – 1996

In my paintings I make reference to the modes of production and the structures of mediated imagery, such as halftone dot patterns, pixilated screens and the scan lines of the cathode ray tube. My paintings also make reference to the quality of space in mediated imagery such as photographs and computer screens. My use of color refers to the quality of light from computer screens and the incidental quality of artificial light in institutional spaces. The imagery of the paintings is the residue of a dialogue between a sense of illusion generated through the process of painting, and a reflection on the technologically mediated spaces that we inhabit to an ever-increasing extent
